Merri and Moonee Ponds Current Projects

2008 Projects:

Lake Watch

As part of the Edwardes Lake Neighbourhood Improvement Plan, various schools and community groups are helping monitoring four sites along Edgars Creek and Edwardes Lake to build a picture of the health of these waterways. In addition, over 70 drains in the surrounding area have been stencilled with messages to make people aware of the connection between stormwater and waterways.

City of Melbourne Monitoring Program

With help from schools, community and corporate volunteers, the Merri & Moonee Ponds Waterwatch Program is conducting long term monitoring of several sites along the Yarra river, Moonee Ponds Creek and Trinwarren Tamboore (wetlands area at Royal Park).

Merri Creek Management Committee Monitoring Program

This program involves water quality monitoring of five sites spread along the Merri Creek. This monitoring program also involves intensive macroinvertebrate sampling (SIGNAL). The sampling is primarily conducted by Waterwatch staff, but schools and community groups are often recruited to lend a hand.
